It wasn’t until March 1963 that the first issue of “The Amazing Spider-Man” was released… a series that would be one of Marvel’s all time top sellers. The original, and longest running Spider-Man series is the “The Amazing Spider-Man” title. Throughout the years numerous other Spider-Man series have been released by Marvel:

  • “Web of Spider-Man” in 1985
  • “Spider-Man” in 1990
  • “The Sensational Spider-Man” in 1996
  • “Avenging Spider-Man” in 2011
  • “The Superior Spider-Man” in 2013
  • In April 2014 Marvel relaunched “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starting with issue #1.

Value of Baseball Player Autographs

Some player’s autographs can be worth thousands of dollars. The most valuable autographs are ones from players long gone, the ones who’s name grace the Baseball Hall of Fame, the ones that broke records, and the ones that are part of baseball history: players like Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Sandy Koufax, Cy Young, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams… the greats of the game are worth the most. Some players only signed a handful of items and their signatures are extremely valuable. For example, Shoeless Joe Jackson was thought to be illiterate and signed his name to very few things… his signatures go for $20,000 to $100,000 depending on the item.

Modern baseball player’s autographs are usually worth less than players from long ago. Some players that are alive today sign very few things which make their signatures worth more. In recent times baseball card companies started releasing limited numbers of authenticated cards that can be highly sought after by collectors.

Marvel Comic Books Worth

Marvel comic book worth

The Marvel brand began in 1939 when Martin Goodman released “Marvel Comics #1”. Goodman began publishing under the name Timely Publications, then Atlas Comics, before finally using the name Marvel Comics in 1961. The first wildly successful title was Captain America which included the artwork of Jack Kirby. In 1941, when the editor for Marvel left, Martin Goodman hired his wife’s cousin Stanley Lieber (Stan Lee) to be interim editor. Stan Lee would go on to become a legend in the comic book world, ruling Marvel for decades and overseeing the release of highly successful titles such as the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man, the Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, Daredevil, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Silver Surfer, Magneto, Loki, the Green Goblin… so many popular characters.

As the comic book market contracted in the 1980’s Marvel would be sold and resold until Disney bought Marvel for $4 billion dollars in 2009.

Which Marvel comics are the most valuable? The old ones with popular titles. Certain characters are just more popular, and therefore more collectible, than other characters. For example there are more Spider-Man fans than Ant Man fans. Obviously first editions are usually worth the most. Here’s how you look up what your Marvel comics are worth:
